Find the x-intercepts of the graph y=x^2+2x

At the x-intercepts of the graph, the line crosses the x-axis. This means that the y-value at these points equals 0. We must therefore make x^2+2x equal to 0 and simplify the equation. x^2+2x = 0 is the same as x(x+2)=0. For this equation to simplify, we must find values to make the bracket and the x outside it equal to 0. Since the x outside is by itself, the value here must be 0. For the bracket to equal 0, x must equal -2. Therefore, the x-intercepts for the graph are at (0,0) and (-2,0)
