How do I start working on my Veterinary Medicine personal statement?

Your personal statement is your first, and potentially only chance to show what an excellent candidate you are for the very competitive Veterinary Medicine course. It is important that you demonstrate an understanding of the profession, dedication to pursuing it and the academic ability to thrive on the course. Therefore I recommend basing your personal statement around the work experience you have completed, discussing the experinces you have had working with vets, and specific examples of the skills and qualities you have observed. You should then show the reader that you too have these qualities through describing extracurriculars you take part in. An understanding of the veterinary industry is critical, so using your work experience as a starting point to discuss current issues affecting the veterinary world is important. In addition, you should demonstrate that you are interested in the science behind the degree by picking out a few key examples of diseases from cases you have observed, and show that you have researched these in more detail.
