What is the subjunctive ?

The subjunctive is a "special" kind of tense used in written and spoken forms alike to express an emotion, a desire or even a possibility. They can denote positive and negative things alike. A good example would be "je veux que", which always takes the subjunctive to express a desire. For example, "je veux qu'il fasse beau demain", or even following expressions like "il faut que" which is used very frequently in daily French.
