In order to prepare for the range of exam questions that may arise in the Paper 2 exam, I would suggest that students first narrow down the number of works they are going to focus on and then use past exams and in-class writing in order to determine themes that arise in most questions. Firstly, narrowing down the number of works to focus on not only eases the pressure in terms of quantity, it additionally allows for better depth of understanding. Knowing more about fewer texts often enables students to better answer questions on exams as they can bring a more in-depth analysis of the work they are talking about. Secondly, in order to study effectively, using tools such as past exams and in-class assessments can help students guide their focus in studying for the exam or writing better essays. By locating common themes in questions, the students can locate these from the works and prepare for questions that arise regarding these. Students can prepare points, examples and analyses on a few different types of questions and choose the best way they study from this jumping off point.
