A gun of mass 10kg fires a bullet of mass 240g at a speed of 300ms-1. What is the speed of the gun's recoil?

First, convert the mass of the bullet into SI units -> 240g=0.24kg

The law of the conservation of momentum states that m1v1=m2v2. To find the speed of the gun, rearrange for v1 to give v1=m2v2/m1 and substitute in the given values; m2=0.24kg, v2=300ms-1, and m1=10kg. This gives v1=0.24x300/10=7.2ms-1

If a ball is launched at ground level at a velocity v and angle θ, find an expression for it's height at horizontal distance x.

What are the assumptions made when calculating values regarding an Ideal Gas?

A cannon ball is fired at an angle 30 degrees from horizontal from a cannon with a speed 30km/h, a) calculate how high the cannonball flies, and the horizontal distance from the cannon the cannonball reaches

A spacecraft needs to be slowed down from a speed of 96m/s to 8.2m/s. This can be done by firing an object as the spacecraft is moving. If the mass of the spacecraft is 6730kg and the object is 50kg, calculate the velocity of the ejected object.
