Describe the differences between mitosis and meiosis and when would these occur in mammalian cells?

Both mitosis and meiosis use cytokinesis for the division of genetic informaton between cells, however mitosis creates identical copies known as daughter cells after just one round of cell division, whereas meiosis has a stage of recombination between sister chromatids so they are not geneticall identical, this is to provide genetic variation, linking to the best survival of the daughter cell. This is as meiosis is for the formation of gametes and mitosis is for asexual reproduction that occurs in all cell types.
