What are the negative effects climate change is having on people and the environment?

Climate change is likely to cause multiple impacts globally on both people and the environment. One of the greatest threats posed by climate change is that of sea level rise. This means low lying countries, such as Tuvalu, will experience flooding or be submerged completely. This obviously has a detrimental impact on the lives of people living in these countries as they would lose their livelihoods and in some cases lose their lives. There are of course environmental impacts of sea level rise as inundation of areas will destroy habitats and wipe out certain species as well as make the land impossible to farm. Climate change will also lead to more storms with greater intensity (increased storminess), making it harder for people to prepare for potential disasters. Droughts will also become more frequent and severe with climate change, thus making farming difficult leading to malnutrition of people in many parts of the world. Due to the shortage of water, "water wars" could become common, meaning conflicts will occur as more people attempt to extract diminishing resources. As the temperature rises, certain diseases, such as malaria will become more common in areas that were previously too cold for it before. This will impact people massively as not everyone will be prepared for new diseases, most likely causing fatalities. Overall climate change poses massive issues for people and the environment globally, and whilst not all of the impacts can be foreseen, mitigation methods need to be put in place to prevent complete destruction of lives and habitats.
