Exand and simplify (x-2)^2

When tackling this question you cannot simply multiply what is in the bracket as this this is not fully expanded. First you must rewrite it as (x-2)(x-2). From here we can on expand the brackets by multiplying each term in the left bracket by each term in the right bracket, so we get: 1)xx 2)x-2 3)x*-2 4)-2*-2 Which leaves us: x2 -2x-2x+4. To simplify we simply group the terms by their power of x so we can add -2x and -2x to form -4x. This leaves the fully expanded and simplified answer: x2-4x+4
