What happened in the early conformity studies? Why were they a problem?

FIRST:We should start discussing the idea of conformity, the study of how individuals act when in social stings with other peers, as well as under specific forms of authority. Early studies such as Zimbargo's and Milgram's both example the extremes of how individuals may react.Let's discuss Milgram's study set up.(Note down key facts and results on Virtual Whiteboard as we discuss).
SECOND:We can now discuss the ethical issues and what happened during these studies. Such as conformity being a topic all about how people comply to people they trust - and how these studies led people to do that! (Discuss key events in Zimbargo's study that led to the shut down of the study - ethics board of today. - Load up modern day code of conduct and discuss what was broken; use whiteboard to circle ones that were broken by this classic study)
FINAL:As homework suggest watching the Amazon Prime film 'Experimenter' which is all about Milgram's study and notice what they were trying to learn and how questionable their practise was. (May use part of this in the tutor session to be more interactive!)
