How do I work out the area of a quarter circle with radius 6cm?

The easiest way to do this is to first work out the area of the whole circle. To work out the area of a circle, the equation is area = πr2 , where r is the radius. So, to work out the area we work out π x 62. For the most accurate answer, we should keep the answer in terms of π . π x 62 = 36π . To calculate the area of a quarter circle, we then need to divide the area by 4, as a quarter circle is 1/4 of a circle. 36π /4 = 9, so the area of the quarter circle is 9π .
