2x + y = 10 and 4y - 5x = 1, solve for x and y.

Rearrange one of the linear equations in order to have x or y written as an equation of the other. I.E 1) y =10 - 2x.Then substitute this value into the other equation: 4(10 - 2x) - 5x = 1, hence 39 = 13x which tells us x = 3.Substitute this value of x into either original equation to find y.

Solve the following system of equations simultaneously to find the values of x, y and z. 2x+3y+4z=3, -x-y+z=1, 2x+y-z=0

y is inversely proportional to d^2. When d = 10, y = 4. d is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 2, d = 24. Find a formula for y in terms of x. Give your answer in its simplest form.

Solve by completing the square: x^2 + 12x + 4 = 0
