In a pack of sweets, the ratio of red to blue sweets is 7:5. If there are 25 blue sweets, how many red sweets are there?

Ratios are used to show how things are shared. A ratio of 7:5 means that for every 7 red sweets there are 5 blue sweets.
Step 1 - 7 + 5 = 12 This means there are 12 parts to the ratio
Step 2 -Blue sweets = 7:5This means the blue sweets represent 5 of the 12 parts There are 25 blue sweets To find out how many blue sweets are in 1 part > 25 / 5 = 5 This means 1 part = 5 sweets
Step 3 - We now know that 1 part = 5 sweets We also know that red sweets have a ratio of 7:5 which means they represent 7 of the 12 parts To find out how many red sweets there are > 7 x 5 = 35
So the answer is 35 sweets
