What is 45% of 60?

I would ask the student what they understood of percentages and if they understood the relationship between fractions and percentages. I would explain that 1% of a value is the same as 1/100 of a value. The student would work out what 1/100 of the value is, and then multiply this by 45 to get the 45%.
