When do I use 'ser' and 'estar'?

This is one of the most complex questions for Spanish learners, as both verbs mean 'to be'. This can cause confusion even for advanced learners, and so if you study it well now it will set you up with a solid base for your future Spanish learning! 'Ser' is used to talk about permanent or lasting attributes. It can be used to talk about: Descriptions "Soy Daisy. Soy inglesa. Soy alta y morena."Occupations "Soy profesora. Él es mi jefe."'Estar' is used to indicate temporary states and locations. It can be used to talk about: Position "Mis abuelos están sentados."Location "Estamos en el cafe ahora.
