This question is taken from Section A of a Spanish HL Paper 2, and roughly translates to: "The mayor of your city has banned fast food chains. You're not sure if such an extreme measure is appropriate and you decide to interview him. Write the transcript of the interview that will be published in your local paper."This section is marked on three different criteria: Language, Message and Format.Language: Firstly, I would stress the need to write more than the minimum number of words, as writing under this means you immediately lose a mark. Aside from this, it is crucial to make sure any eliminate any careless errors (make sure verbs are conjugated correctly, adjectives agree with the noun etc.). Make sure to include a variety of tenses including complex ones (for example, a nice way to include the imperfect subjunctive and a conditional would be to have the interviewer imagining being the mayor - si yo creara las reglas, no impondría una prohibición tal severa) It's also important to use specific vocabulary relating to the topic, in this case health. Perhaps try to throw in some idiomatic expressions related to health/food (eg. la salud no tiene precio, y el que la arriesga es un necio) to show a real mastery of the language. Finally, remember you are interviewing the mayor, so make sure to use the usted form when addressing him and adopt a formal register.Message: Before you start writing, try and think up some positives and negatives about the mayor's proposal, and what aspects of life the ban may affect (eg. health, local economy etc.) Both the interview and the mayor will have reasons to support their ideas, so make sure any ideas you present are backed up with good explanations, or maybe even examples/statistics(either real or made-up). Make sure to stay focused on the theme of fast food, as this is what the question is about, and include vocabulary related to this topic.Format: The format is an interview, and so presenting it like one is an easy way to gain marks. Interviews need titles, perhaps a brief introduction/introductory question and a structure which shows which person is speaking, for example:Entrevistador: ¿Cree que la prohibición de las restaurantes de comida rápida aumentará el número de los restaurantes más caros?Alcalde: Pues, no sé si diría eso exactamente...Perhaps even include descriptions of any actions of note either of you make, for example: Aparece que el alcalde se está esforzando a aparentar tranquilo.
