Rutherford’s alpha particle scattering experiments gave what evidence about an atom?

Before we can look at the evidence we need to look at the observations from the experiment. During the session we will go through the experiment and then the observations to deduce the atom theory - and how the plum pudding model was discarded.

Explain the forces involved in a pendulum set up.

A ball is launched from ground level at 5m/s at an angle of 30 degrees above the horizontal. What is its height above ground level at the highest point in its trajectory?

A ball is thrown up with an initial velocity of 8 m/s and initial height of 1.5m above the ground. Calculate the maximum height the ball reaches and the time it takes to get there.

A golf ball is hit at angle θ to the horizontal, with initial velocity u. Stating an assumption, show that the horizontal distance travelled by the ball is directly proportional to u^2.
