give the values of x when 2x^2+5x-3=0

First we need to find two numbers that multiply to make ac and add to make b which are -6 and 5 in this case. The two numbers that do this are 6 and -1. Now we separate the 5x into 6x and -x. Putting this into the original equation gives us 2x^2+6x-x-3=0.We can factorise this into 2x(x-3)-(x-3)=0Which can be further factorised to (2x-1)(x-3)=0This gives us the roots x=3 and x=1/2
