How does ATP fuel reactions?

ATP releases energy when it is converted to ADP and iP by ATP lyase. It REQUIRES energy to create that phosphate bond and so the bond can be viewed as the store of energy. ATP lyase breaks this and release energy. It is an exergonic reaction.
