Cracking of the unbranched compound E, C6H14, produced the saturated compound F and an unsaturated compound G (Mr = 42). Identify these compounds and write an equation for the reaction.

Compound E is an unbranched alkane. The general formula of an alkane is CnH2n+2.Compound E is CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3.Compound G is an unsaturated hydrocarbon or an alkene. The general formula of an alkene is CnH2n. To achieve an Mr of 42, the formula of compound G must be C3H6.Compound F is an unsaturated hydrocarbon or an alkane. Compound F is C3H8.The equation for the cracking reaction is: C6H14 ---> C3H6 + C3H8
