Globalisation is the process by which there is an increase of power for international institutions, and far more interaction between different states on an international governing level. The collaborative and supposedly inclusive ideas behind this concept fail to mask the true issues with globalisation. The issues of superstates (such as the US, the UK and other Western powers) superseding the premise of shared power on an international scale means that many less powerful actors are on the back foot when it comes to international governance.Globalisation can also have a massive cultural effect in nation states, a case in point, the Brexit result, where the withdrawal from a multinational institution was a proportion of the nation who felt left behind by the effects of globalisation. The industrial workers, and those living outside of urban areas felt as though it was the EU and institutions like it meaning they would lose their identity.
