The prevalence of transnational corporations (TNCs) in Latin American play a major role in producing and maintaining unequal levels of wealth and development. This is caused by the lack of reinvestment in the communities of their workers and manufacturers, as the products and profits are exported. The unmitigated offshoring of profits leads to stagnation of the local economy and limited opportunities for the construction of infrastructure necessary for the development of the region.Depending on weight of question, a more precise example may be given (e.g a particular relationship between a town and TNC which perpetuates inequality).
