Consistency is the most important thing when learning a language so I recommend practicing as regularly as possible, even if you can only do half an hour per day. Reading poems out loud while paying attention to diction and pronunciation is a good way of doing this as rhyme schemes give indications regarding pronunciation. Listening to audio books is also a good way of training the ear and developping the skills required for conversation with a native french speaker.I would also recommend reading dual language books where the English translation appears next to the original French text as a way to enrich vocabulary and see how both languages differ. As for lessons, I would recommend a weekly hour of conversation in French with me (the tutor). This would give me the opportunity to understand which ares the student has more difficulty with (vocabulary, syntax, correct use of tense etc). These conversations could focus on what the student is currently learning at school, any topics they are preparing for examination, areas of interest within French culture etc
