What techniques can be used to improve my scores on the abstract reasoning section of the UKCAT?

The Abstract Reasoning section of the UKCAT tests the ability to interpret patterns amongst abstract shapes with irrelevant and distracting information. The section is highly time pressured so critical evaluation of information is imperative. I teach a method called the SCANS technique, incorporating shape, colour, arrangement, number and size to analyse the problem quickly and efficiently leaving time to review unknown questions at the end of the test. More detail will be provided in the interview session.
