Solve the following quadratic: x^2 -5x +6=0

Step 1: factorise Find two numbers which add to make -5 and multiply to make 6--- -3 and -2(x-3)(x-2)=0
Step 2: recognise solutionsTo make the left hand side equal the right hand side, we can make one of the brackets equal zero.When x=3, (3-3)(3-2)=0=RHS  so one solution is x=3
When x=2, (2-3)(2-2)=0=RHS  so the other solution is x=2
