What are the consequences of drug use in sport on the sport itself?

The 'clean' athletes and new records set are questioned and not given credit they deserve. It creates bad publicity and a bad name for the sport, e.g Tour de France cycling after Lance Armstrong doping case. It can create a bad name for a specific country, for example; Russian state sponsored doping in 2014. Also accusations, testing and convictions are long and expensive process.
