The best way to improve your time management for history exams is to develop a system that works for you and then practise it doing timed past papers. i.e. If the exam is two hours long and you have to answer two essay questions, you know you need to split that time in half so you can devote equal amounts of time to each essay. You'll also then be able to work out how much time you have to plan (usually no more than 5 minutes for each question) and how much time you have to write and check each essay. If it helps, try breaking your system down further and split you time according to the number of paragraphs you usually write (10 minutes per paragraph for example). The most important thing, though, is not to get so stressed out about the time that you forget about the quality of your work. It's about finding a balance between knowing you a strategy that works and writing a quality essay in the exam, which is where the practise is so important. In a history exam, exam technique is just as important as the content itself!
