Solve the simultaneous equations 8x+2y=34 and 4x+2y=18

1.Simplify the two equations: 4x+y=17and 2x+y=9. 2. Rearrange one of the equations to make y=: y=9-2x. 3.Substitute into other equation:4x+9-2x=17. 4. Simplify:2x=8 x=4. 5.Substitute back into either of the two original equations and simplify:4(4)+y=17. 16+y=17.y=1
