Describe the similarities and differences between the processes of osmosis and diffusion

Similarities:Both processes are passive (do not require energy)In both processes molecules move from an area of high concentration to low concentration and therefore down a concentration gradient.Differences:Diffusion is a movement process for all gases and liquids whereas osmosis refers to only the movement of water moleculesOsmosis must occur across a partially permeable membrane
