Explain why blood transfusion from a recently recovered Ebola patient may be an effective treatment ? (3 marks)

Importantly the question has 3 marks which means 3 clearly developed points must be made:
The question wants us to think about ebola and its method of infection, the individual who has been infected and recovered and the individual who is infected and needs treatment.
The first mark can come from saying what ebola is and its method of transmission - "ebola is a virus transmitted via human-human contact. The ebola virus will carry specific antigens."
The second mark can come from a discussion of how the recovered patient is useful - "having recovered from ebola the patient will develop antibodies specific to the ebola antigen which are retained in the blood"
The third mark can come from a discussion of the blood transfusion and why it would be effective for a patient - "you can then use a transfusion from the recovered patient - containing specific antibodies - to treat the ebola viral strains in the infected patient as the antibodies will bind to ebola virus particles and stimulate their destruction"
