Outline one possible environmental impact of deforestation.

One major consequence of deforestation is loss of biodiversity due to habitat destruction. Habitat destruction affects individual species, as well as the environment as whole. For example, the popular demand for bamboo devastated Asian forests. Many herbivores which rely on bamboo's rich nutritional value may experience population decline, along with the carnivores that preyed upon them, and so on. Therefore, habitat loss has devastating effects on entire food webs, and leads to a loss of biodiversity.
