A right-angled triangle has a base of 5 cm, a height of 12 cm. Find the length of the hypotenuse.

Draw the triangle.Let the base = a, height = b and hypotenuse = ca = 5, b = 12, c = ?Using Pythagoras theorem, a2 + b2 = c2so, 52 + 122 = c225 + 144 = c2169 = c2c = sqrt (169)c = 13So the hypotenuse is 13 cm.

Where do the two lines intersect? (a) 3x+6y= 15 (b) y= 6x -4 (GCSE-Higher Tier)

y is inversely proportional to d^2. When d = 10, y = 4. d is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 2, d = 24. Find a formula for y in terms of x. Give your answer in its simplest form.
