How can I maximise my marks in the written paper?

It is important to familiarise yourself with the mark scheme for the written paper, and for each individual question within as they may require different skills. Read the question carefully, taking in any word limits provided, and the bullet points detailing specific topics and issues that must be covered.Spend time planning. This will enable you to clearly structure and balance your answer and to jot down any phrases and grammatical structures you want to make sure you include. Focus on three key areas: the content of your answer (ensure you cover all the issues required, and that you convey your opinions in the specified style/register), the quality (use a variety of different vocabulary, tenses, phrases, and make sure to include idioms) and the accuracy of your answer (make sure to leave time to proof read). These are the major areas detailed in mark schemes, and so bearing them in mind during the planning and subsequent writing process will ensure you can reach top marks across your answers.
