What do I need to include in order to answer an A level AQA Extract Question?

The extract provided by AQA should directly guide and lead your response. Ensure you thoroughly read the extract and understand all content addressed. Re-read the extract a second time, highlighting key points and annotate any crucial events or historical knowledge which the extract articulates or implies in order to remember to include these pieces of historical knowledge within your answer.Prioritise the key elements within the extract to address within your answer and number the order of points to ensure you deal with the most relevant factors within the extract in relation to the question. This ensures you deal with the most important points first, in case you run out time. Directly and explicitly refer to the extract within your answer. Do this by directing quoting short phrases which support your point. Always remember P.E.A (Point. Evidence. Analysis) as the writing style which dictates your answer in response to the question. Your evidence should be taken from the extract, to show that you are using the extract.Acknowledge the provenance of the extract within your answer. Who wrote the extract? When was the extract written? What purpose was the extract written for and did the author of the extract have a motive to write the extract? Analyse the language and tone used within the source. All of these elements should be included within your answer to show the examiner your direct use of the extract.Use simple language to get your point across directly within your answer. Be clear, concise and directly answer the question.
