You can improve your UKCAT score in many ways, in my opinion the best way to tackle the UKCAT is one section at a time. Firstly, the UKCAT section. Generally you will improve in this section the more you read! So whatever it is, a newspaper, twitter or a book, then you should practise reading in a certain style. As you are very time limited in the UKCAT, then you don’t have time to read every word. Therefore you should practise skim reading, picking out the main words. Practise by finding a block of text and giving yourself 20 seconds or so to skim read it and see how much information you can take from it and note down key facts. Also, there are different ways of answering these VR questions. Some prefer to read the text first then the question and answering it. However, I preferred to read the question, pick out the main theme or word which I would then look out for in the block of text. I would advise you to try both, and see which gets the best results then stick to it! Another section which some people find challenging is the Abstract Reasoning. I improved my score by doing as many practise questions under timed conditions as possible! Whenever I did these practise questions, I would note down certain rules and patterns noted. I found this useful as its very likely you will come across the same pattern more than once. So for example, if the pattern to get to the correct answer was all the black arrows point outwards and white arrows point inwards - then I would note this down with a little comment, like look at which direction different coloured shapes point. Then as part of my revision, before tackling more questions I would read through these notes to refresh my mind.
