What is globalisation?

oGlobalisation is simply the integration of economies, industries, markets and policy-making around the world. Some key examples of globalisation are multi-national brands that you may recognise such as Nike. Nike is headquartered in Portland, America, most of its products are made in factories in China, Malaysia and Cambodia and sold all over the world. Factors which have contributed to globalisation include increased communication and travel. Free-trade or neoliberalism has also played a big role in increasing trade between countries as well as organisations such as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) which sets the rules on global trade. Political blocs such as the European Union are free trade zones and are forums for policy-making between nations.
