What is crimogenic capitalism?

Crimogenic capitalism is Marx's theory that the exploitative nature of the capitalist system necessarily leads to crime. Capitalism is centred on the idea that the individual's self-interest is the most important factor in an economic system which inevitably leads to exploitative working conditions and low wages for workers as owners aim to maximise profit. This leads to huge inequality which leads to crime as people at the bottom of society struggle to consume at a reasonable level.
