Describe one way in which parental values can influence a child’s attitude to education and explain how this may affect a child’s chance of success in school.

Parents influence their children's attitudes towards school and education. This affects the child's progress as if they feel encouraged and supported by their parent, for example if a parent regularly shows interest in their child's education by attending parents evenings to track their progress. The child will do better in school if their parent provides them with the correct educational materials, such as access to the internet, a comfortable study space, or maybe a private tutor to aid them with subjects they are struggling with.Sociologists have suggested that class values can impact on children's attitude to education. For example, middle-class values have been believed to contribute to ambition and discipline when studying, whereas working-class values have been viewed as less likely to lead to educational success.
