Expand and simplify (2x+4)(x+2)

In order to expand this expression, we use what is known as the FOIL method. This stands for First, Outside, Inside and Last. First, we multiply the first term in each bracket by each other. 2x multiplied by x gives us 2x2.Next, we multiply the outside terms of the brackets together. These are 2x and 2. Multiplying these gives us 4x.Then we multiply the inside terms together. 4 multiplied by x gives us 4x. After that we multiply the last terms in each bracket by each other. 4 x 2 gives us 8. The next step is to add these all together, which gives us 2x2 + 4x + 4x + 8. The final step is to simplify this equation, as this is asked of us in the question. Collecting the x's together gives us a final answer of 2x2 + 8x + 8
