Expand (x+6)(x-3)

There are 2 handy ways of remembering how to do these questions, so I'll show you both and you can tell me which you like best. What's important to remember is to make sure you times everything in the first bracket by everything in the second bracket. One way to do this is using FOIL. First, xx=x2. Outer, x(-3)=-3x. Inner, 6x=6x. Last, 6(-3)=-18. And finish by adding everything back together: x2-3x+6x-18=x2+3x-18. The second way you can do at the same time, by drawing lines like I have as you times each number, you should see that you've drawn a moon, and as long as you've written down something for each part of the moon you've drawn, you'll know you haven't forgotten anything.
