How do I form and use the perfect tense/passé composé?

The basic structure of the perfect tense: Conjugated 'avoir' or 'être' + the past participle of the verb = passé composéStep-by-Step-Take your infinitive form of the verb (e.g. 'manger' or 'aller')-Chop off the 'er', 'ir' or 're' ending of the verb (e.g. 'mang-' or 'all-')-Decide whether the auxiliary verb is 'avoir' or an 'être' verb and conjugate the auxiliary according to who/what you're referring to. For example, j'ai or il est (this requires MRS VANDERTRAMP!) (e.g. 'manger' is avoir, 'aller' is être)-For 'er' verbs add 'é' to the end, for 'ir' verbs add 'i' and for 're' verbs add 'u'-If your verb takes 'être', make sure you agree the ending with the subject (for feminine add an extra 'e' and for plural add an 's'). This is not necessary for 'avoir' verbs.-Example: Elles ont mangé trop de crème brûlée Je suis allée au cinema hier (I'm a female so I add an extra 'e')
