What are the key elements I need to discuss in my literature analysis?

It is generally a good technique to structure one's analysis through a few central themes in the piece of literature being analysed. Once these have been identified it is important to highlight the presence of these themes by analysing the literary devices used by the author. Certain literature techniques often overlooked are tone and mood. Mentioning these would show markers that you are able to pick up on the subtleties of a piece of literature. However, others that are also important to mention include imagery, hyperbole, accumulation, alliteration, comparisons through metaphors/synonyms, and many more. It is essential to provide proof of the presence of the themes you have identified and analyse the author's intended effect so that you may link them to the author's central message in a strong conclusion.
