Give two reasons why an organism might gain a fitness benefit from helping their conspecifics.

Kin selection / Inclusive fitness - if the helper and receiver are related, then they share some of their genes. By helping a relative, you are increasing the likelihood of them passing on their genes, some of which you will share, therefore increasing your fitness.Reciprocal altruism - when a helper organism aids a conspecific, that same conspecific could reciprocate the help given to it, therefore increasing the fitness of the helper organism.
