Explain how one transnational corporation (TNC) has contributed to the globalisation of the world’s economy (4m)

Coca Cola was first sold to the public in Atlanta Georgia in the US. It experienced overseas expansion as the sponsor for the Olympic Games in 1923 and travelled to Amsterdam in the Netherlands and was sold there. This expansion continued with the sponsor of multiple sporting leagues (?) including Fifa, The Rugby World Cup and the NBA. As a result, Coca Cola now has 139,000 associates around the world selling multiple products including Coca Cola and Fanta and 50% of these are outside of the US. Coca Cola Europe employs approximately 1,600 associated with over 66,000 employees. While the headquarters is still in Atlanta, GA, and most research and development takes place in the US, Coca Cola have recently constructed a $90million research centre in Shanghai. In this way Coca Cola as a TNC has contributed to the globalisation of the worlds economy as both research, production and consumption takes place around the world contributing to both the US’s economy and the economies of franchise host countries.
