State the qualitative tests to distinguish between halide ions in solution.

To test for chloride ions, add silver nitrate and a white precipitate should form, then add dilute ammonia and it should re-dissolve. For bromide ions, add silver nitrate and a cream precipitate should form, then add concentrated ammonia and it should re-dissolve. For iodide ions, add silver nitrate and a yellow precipitate should form, then the precipitate will not re-dissolve with any concentration of ammonia added.
