How would I recognise a Baroque piece of Music?

Baroque music is broadly defined by complex texture, functional harmony, and use of ornamentation. The texture of a Baroque piece of music will likely be made up of interweaving melodic lines, sometimes making it hard to pick out a single melody. The harmony is functional, often in a simplistic way - sections of pieces will stick to a simple chord structures such as I-V-I. Most pieces will be embellished with ornamentation - such as trills - as much Baroque music is highly decorative.
