How do you rearrange formula?

First of all we need to identify what it is we're trying to get onto one side of the equation. In this example;y = 2x - 5 we are asked to arrange the formula in terms of x. To do this we need to first get rid of the -5, to do this we add 5 to both sides giving the equation,y + 5 = 2xwe're left with 2x, to get x on its own we need to divide both sides by 2.this leaves (y + 5)/2 = x or y/2 + 2.5 = x
