Solve the simultaneous equations. 2x + y = 18 . x - y = 6

x = 6 + y
2(6+y) + y = 18
12+2y+y = 18
3y = 18-12
3y=6
y = 6/3 = 2. So y = 2 if y = 2 then x is = ?
x - y = 6 so, x-2 = 6
so x is 6+ 2 = 8
x = 8 and y = 2
