What do you think might be the challenges of being a doctor?

This is a broad question which allows the candidate to show how they are aware of and possess the desirable qualities of a doctor. They can also be used to bring out effective coping strategies to ensure candidates are robust.It is important that the candidate thinks of their own challenges. There is no right/wrong answer as long as they can justify why it would be challenging. It is essential however to have an answer ready to explain how you would deal with this challenge in a successful manner. Crucially, rote learning others examples does not impress interviewers. A few examples of challenges to illustrate the point are given below.Emotional answers e.g seeing dying patients/ill children etc. These answers show that you have an empathetic side. However beware that you don't come across sounding like this is not right for you. Be ready to counter with how you would cope with this. Answers showing an appreciation for current medical affairs e.g poor resources, staffing issues
