If 3 apples cost £1.50 and 4 oranges cost £3.20, how much do 5 apples and 3 oranges cost?

The answer is £4.90 and we know that this is the case because...If 3 apples cost £1.50, then one apple costs 50p and then 5 apples are 5 x 50p which is £2.50If 4 oranges cost £3.20 then one orange is £0.80, and then 3 oranges are 3 x £0.80 which is £2.40
£2.40 + £2.50 which is £4.90
