Whenever embarking on large essays, one must first assert a solid structure. The common notion of: Point, Quote, Explain, is a helpful system to follow. First, sketch a structure, including the number of paragraphs and rough ideas.
Your introduction must outline your main thesis and overarching argument. It is a good idea to define your terms at the start, name some key scholars and perhaps refer to the historical setting.
